The Secret Exposed: An Investigative Report From Criswell Radio Network's 'Christian News Weekly'

90.9 KCBI and FamilyNet Radio will air a special in-depth investigation regarding Rhonda Byrne's popular book "The Secret" on Saturday, August 18th

DALLAS, Aug. 9 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Saturday, August 18th, the Criswell Radio Network's "Christian News Weekly" will air a special half-hour report exposing the faulty thinking behind the much-hyped book The Secret. With Oprah Winfrey and much of Hollywood promoting the book, sales have sky- rocketed. Yet, many believe this book to be harmful, dangerous, and misleading.

Hosted by Sharon Geiger and Dennis Page, The Secret Exposed will feature man-on-the-street interviews as well as keynote guests that can shed some light on the book. Featured guests include: James Walker (author of The Truth Behind the Secret), Dr. Robert Jeffress (pastor, author, and host of "Pathway to Victory"), June Hunt (author, host of "Hope for the Heart"), Dr. Jerry Johnson (host of "Jerry Johnson Live" and President of Criswell College in Dallas), and Barry Cameron (senior pastor of Crossroads Christian Fellowship in Grand Prairie, TX).

"We've heard about this book on Oprah and seen it in the hands of much of Hollywood's A-listers," said Vice President of the Criswell Radio Network Mike Tirone. "God's truth is not a secret; it is a free gift of salvation because Jesus paid the price in full for our sins on the cross. We're going to use the Bible to expose the danger and misconception behind the law of attraction philosophy promoted in Byrne's book."

This special edition of "Christian News Weekly" will air on Saturday, August 18th. It can be heard on FamilyNet Radio on Sirius channel 161 at 6:30AM (CST) or on KCBI 90.9 FM and http://www.kcbi.org/ at 12:30PM (CST).

'For Your Marriage' Web Site Offers Resources for Couples of All Faiths

WASHINGTON, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Putting a modern image on traditional values, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops recently launched a Web site designed to promote healthy marriages. The Web site, which is located on the Internet at http://www.foryourmarriage.org/, can aid couples of all faiths. With everything from daily marriage tips to statistics on divorce and cohabitation, this site is an up-to-date resource.

The For Your Marriage Web site includes resources for everyone, including engaged and married couples, and facts about Catholic marriage. The Web site is designed for a wide and varied audience and is part of larger campaign, which includes television public service messages, which can be viewed on the site. In just one month, the site has received nearly 500,000 hits with the average visitor viewing 6-12 pages.

The site offers daily marriage tips that suggest simple ways to cultivate a healthy marriage. A link on the home page also gives couples a tool to find Catholic marriage information locally. A monthly marriage quiz can serve as a conversation starter on sensitive issues.

Information on conflict resolution, communication, and financial concerns is posted throughout the Web site. Topics such as intimacy and parenting also are featured. Visitors also can view stories and advice from married couples.

"The Internet has become a crucial means for evangelizing, especially among younger people," said Archbishop Joseph Kurtz, Chairman of the bishops' Marriage and Family Life Committee. "We hope youth especially will find inspiration and hope at the stroke of a key."

The contemporary design of the For Your Marriage Web site has versatility and accessibility to enable the Internet to be a medium for evangelization and education.

The For Your Marriage Web site is part of a multi-year National Pastoral Initiative for Marriage. The simple exhortation to do something for your marriage is the practical advice promoted by the Web site and the entire campaign.

The For Your Marriage Web site, and the TV and radio spots are funded by the U.S. bishops' Catholic Communication Campaign, which collects money in parishes nationwide to support church media efforts.

How to Become Saved

God created man to live with Him in unity and fellowship. Adam and Eve sinned by doing something that God forbade them to do. They lived to please themselves, not God. This attitude tainted all of humankind and we have inherited sin that has been passed down from generations to generations. Sin is doing things that are againt the will of God. We are naturally prone to sin, it is innate in us. Through God's will we can forsake sin.

The penalty for sin is death. God loves us so much, he allowed His son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins, so that we may be redeemed and have everlasting life. When you open your heart to Jesus, you are saying you need Him in your life, to guide you. You are asking Him to forgive you your sins. Confess openly and honestly with Him. The Bible says, "Confess your sins and He is faithful and just to forgive you your sins and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

Do not wait to clean your act up before you feel you are worthy of God. Jesus died for our sins. Open your heart to Him and through the Holy Spirit's work in our lives and souls we can seek obedience. Salvation is the key to resisting sin.

The word "Christian" is derived from "Christ in." The Lord is within all "born-again" Christians who have turned from their old, sinful ways. The indwelling of The Holy Spirit brings our spirit alive to God. Sometimes you will not receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit until you have been baptised in water -- a public declaration of your faith in Jesus Christ and your becoming a Christian. Water baptism is also symbolic of what Christ has done in your life. Going under the water means you are dying to the old you and rising out to a new life where you are living for Christ.

Show your love for God by reading His word - the Bible. Learn his likes and dislikes. Follow the examples of the righteous people in the Bible. Learn from the mistakes of the unrighteous.

Spend time in prayer with God every day. Get to know Him. Develop a closer relationship with Him.

God uses your conscience to make you aware of when you are sinning. Repent and confess. Ask Him for renewed strength to help keep your from sinning again.

Go to church and fellowship with other Christians. Gain strength in knowing you are not alone as a Christian. The preacher is how God gets His message to you. You have an extended family now. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. In Galatians 3:26, the Bible says we are all sons of God through faith in Christ. God adopts you as His child when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Welcome to the Family of God!
