Diversity Book Scholarships for Graduating High School Seniors

(10/4/09). DverCITY, Inc. will award book scholarships to incoming college freshman for the Fall 2010 semester. The scholarship contest is open to high school seniors of any race or nationality with special needs; high school seniors of African, Spanish, or Asian descent who will be attending a predominantly white college or university; and high school seniors of any race or nationality who will be attending a historically black college or university (HBCU).

To apply for the Eunice Mae & Warren Spearman Scholarship, submit via e-mail (to scholarships@dvercity.com) a personal statement along with the scholarship application and two letters of reference from a teacher, guidance counselor, pastor, community service organization, or employer. The submission deadline is May 31, 2010.

DverCITY.com Sponsors Diversity Writing Contest

(10/4/09), DverCITY, Inc. is looking for America’s next great writers. Writers can showcase their writing talent on DverCITY.com and win a monetary prize if selected as one of the winners. DverCITY.com welcomes all types of fiction and nonfiction writing from all ages, including poetry, short stories, essays, articles, novellas, novel chapters, and comic strips. Acceptable topics include: special needs and inclusion, Christian life and experiences, living in America, ethnic and cultural life and experiences, immigrant experiences, multiculturalism, and diversity.

The contest submissions must be the original work of the author and previously unpublished. To enter the contest, e-mail submissions to contests@dvercity.com. Submissions must be in Microsoft Word (.doc) format only and include a cover letter stating that DverCITY, Inc. has permission to publish the entry online. DverCITY.com accepts multiple contest entries.

The prizes include: First place ($100), Second place ($50), Third place ($25), and several Honorable Mentions ($10). The submission deadline is December 31, 2009.
